How is the project operated?
Artist-run.
How long has it been in existence?
Since August 2008.
What was your motivation?
We like to support artists whose work we love.
Number of organizers/responsible persons of the project.
2.
How are programs funded?
Lucas and I buy the beer. We pay for things out of pocket.
Who is responsible for the programming?
Lucas and Eve choose the curators and they choose the artists. We choose the artists who have solo shows.
Number and average duration of exhibitions/events per year.
It varies between 18- 6 shows per year. Each show lasts 3 weeks usually. That varies based on location and other projects we are doing.
What kind of events are usually organized?
Performances & lectures by artists.
How is your programming determined?
We ask friends to curate shows of work they like.
Do you accept proposals/submissions?
If we know who it’s coming from.
What is your artistic/curatorial approach?
When we curate a solo show we ask people who don’t have a gallery – they are people who make great work, there are many, but are not represented.
What’s working? What’s not working?
We are enjoying working with artists and helping them get exposure. Everything is working for now.
What kind of role do you hope to play in your local art scene or community?
We like to support people whose work we love who aren’t otherwise supported.
What idea are you most excited about for the future?
We are are working on a show about feminist rage curated by RJ Messineo at the One National Gay and Lesbian Archive. The show includes some amazing artists, some of whom will engage with work in the archive so we are super excited about that. We also want to get more involved with supporting the archive and their collection.
