M12 creates interdisciplinary site-based art works, research projects, and education and outreach programs. Working in the fields of sculpture, architecture, and public art and design, they favor projects that are centered in rural areas and which can be developed through dialogical and collaborative approaches.
Featured Topic: Art and Privilege
Using the theory of intersectionality (the idea that various and discrete forms of oppression are interrelated) as a starting point we will spend the next four months working in partnership with guest editors to examine privilege (both in and through art) from feminist, class, geographic, queer and black perspectives.
APRIL: This month we have partnered with The Artist as Debtor/artanddebt.org to consider class privilege (particularly in terms of debt) as it relates to artists and society at large.
